New Chapter, New Beginnings, New Blessings!
Best advice I've gotten through therapy is to not be afraid to course correct at any given moment. Don't apologize for changing your mind about a situation, circumstance or even how you feel about a person. I wonder how often each of us place limitations on our abilities + potential just based on others' expectations of us. This is not a real way to live + one that will continue to limit you every step of the way.

In the last few years, I have learned to trust my voice and follow the direction I chose for my life. It has paid off immensely. In the next few weeks, I will be embarking on a new career trajectory as I switch out from my work in community development and head towards creating a path to advance racial and economic equity. The groundwork for this shift began first in committing to a life that I loved + cared for. No longer did I give space to things that no longer aligned. Often, that meant turning down opportunities that didn’t add to my mission + letting go of misguided friendships. It felt really cutthroat at first but I recognized that if I was serious about moving forward I needed to hold myself accountable + treat my time as pure gold.

listen to your gut + choose yourself over and over again.
The surprise came when the people who had often claimed to be my champions alienated their support and in some cases, mocked my new commitment to growth. This is nothing new. People who live in fear will constantly try to convince you to stay stuck out of fear. This may include your romantic partner asking you to dim your light when you are shining brighter than before or a childhood best friend claiming - correctly- that you have changed. Be prepared when you choose yourself to deal with push back from well intentioned people; those who see us up close try to hold us tight when our wings begin to bloom. I'm good on that. I choose to live my life with intention + purpose.

I decided to make space in my life for what worked for me + the Universe responded. I’m in a new relationship feeling fulfilled + receiving the love and support I need. I’m in a new home with wonderful people + saving money towards goals that would make my ancestors proud. I am beginning a new role fully equipped to help cultivate my ideas + nourish my talent. Life is never perfect, however we can create a life that leans into abundance despite fear. Find your voice, follow your gut. Simple advice yet one that has turned my sorrows into blessings.
